I recommend Logmein for a nice easy to use remote style interface. It doesn’t even require any sort of firewall configuration. I use it from home to log into my work PC then at that point I use a combination of PC anywhere, Remote Desktop, and RealVNC to jump to other Pcs ont he network.
RealVNC is also useful for managing a home network without the clutter of keyboards and mice. I’ve got three PCs, at my home, 1 main desktop, one webserver, and one media server. I have the two servers hidden away behind the television stand, out of sight, out of mind. Real VNC is used to interface directly.
